我們修道要立大志向，要肯定自己的方向，要肯定立身行道才是對的，我們不能到時候自己說一回糊塗了，我這樣子對嗎？別人說你們錯了，我這樣子真的錯啦，那就壞了。自己要非常肯定自己，明白自己，天地、聖賢、仙佛都是經過我們這樣的歷程。而這末後一著我們不能夠錯過，這真是千年萬年就這麼一次，所以我們今天應該要立志，是非不足以惑其志，得失不足以動其心，利害不足以移其德，成敗不足以變其勇。
We must set our major direction and affirm the right path of Tao practice with upright characters. We cannot goof around or mistaking the right for the wrong. We must be very certain of ourselves and have enlightenment in ourselves. All saints and buddhas experienced the process. This is the very period we live in. This rare period will never come back again in tens of thousands of years. Thus, we must take vows today to be so determined that judgment cannot confuse our will, gain or loss cannot motivate us, interests cannot compromise our virtue, and success or failure cannot daunt us.
這幾句話我想很淺白，這裏邊是現在我們每一個人都在學道，往往就鑽到這四個東西裏來，一個是是非，遇到是非了，自個兒就唉～我看，聽聽看，自個兒就洩氣了。所以有是非沒有關係，我有一個不跟是非走的那個東西，就請他出來，所以是非不足以惑其志，迷惑了你自個兒的志向。我們往往立志立得很堅，但一有是非了，自個兒就退步了，退堂了，我的誠也沒有了，要知道是非不足以惑其志。
These sayings are quite explicit. When we cultivate Tao, we often fall into the four categories. The first is judgment, with which we know what is right and wrong. However, judgment is not something we should follow. We shall not be muddled by judgment. Sticking firmly to our determination is a must.
下邊那個，得失不足以動其心。得失，我得到了，我失掉了，得失，我們天天都在得失裏邊，在煩惱，在困惑，而對有得失的問題的時候，就要會不足以動其心，起心動念，不要動其心，不要！
Regarding gain and loss, we evaluate gain and loss everyday and become concerned of them. In the face of gain and loss, we need to learn not to be motivated by them.
還有第三個，利害不足以移其德。利害，我們也天天在利害的裏邊，不足以移其德，我們的德性，現在有利害了，管他德行不德行，我管他的，我把錢拿回來再說，我把財產搶過來再說，不能！德，我自個兒一定要顯現我自己的明德，雖然是有利害，我寧可錢受損失、名譽受損都沒有關係，德不能給糟蹋了，要這樣子。
Interests are what we live with everyday. We cannot obtain interests at the cost of our virtues. We must reveal our virtues even if we may suffer from the loss of money or reputation. Virtues matter.
第四個，成敗不足以變其勇。成敗，我們在人生裏邊，哇，先失敗了，我現在又成功了，不管成功也好，失敗也好，都不足以變其勇。自個兒的勇氣，把自己的大志大愿，救渡眾生的勇，不怕一切的勇，不會改變，不變其勇，不會改變我的勇氣，不會！
Then, success or failure cannot daunt us. We shall remain courageous regardless of succeeding or failing. We must stick to our devotion and determination in salvaging all living beings and be brave throughout ups and downs of life.
我們人都在這四個裏邊，是非、得失、利害、成敗，就這樣子就把我們擊倒了，所以真正明白道的人就是大的人，存其大，這才是我的大目標。抓住上天傳道給我們，這才是我真正想要的，其它這些個是非、利害、得失、成敗，這算什麼！不要為這些，這些是小者，都是人生的小者，可是我們都為人生這些個事攪亂了我們的方向，真的哦！
All day long, these four fluctuations are factors that can knock us out. We must achieve the greatness in life while practicing Tao. The major goal is to seize the opportunity of Tao cultivation in this life since we received Tao from the Heaven. These fluctuations are minor things of life. If we become disoriented by these things, it is a pity.
大家要把這個大目標肯定，雖然是這麼說，不過我們修道人形象要清晰，我們要瓜田不納履，李下不正冠，大家要清楚哦！這個雖然不合理，但是最少形象上我們大家在眾生的眼睛裏邊，應該自己要自愛，自己要非常有分寸，不可以去的地方不去，不可以說的話不說，我們真能這樣的話，我們的形象、我們的德行都會展現，真的都會展現。
Although we said that we must affirm the major goal, we shall remain our clear image as a Tao cultivator. We shall be self-disciplined and rational. We must not go where we shall not go or say what we shall not say. If we can do so, we can reveal our image and virtues.
希望各位同學在這個一貫心法的裏邊，把這些不屬於心法的方面摒除，我們要天天都在這裏邊立志立愿，要從這裏邊走出去，從這裏邊救多少的眾生，我們犧牲了金錢，犧牲了我的時間，犧牲了我的生命，真是來為眾生去救渡，這真是這個偉大是在這裏，是非常非常的超然！可是不要為了這些東西而傷害了我們自己的大志和大愿，所以希望我們各位同學要好好的珍惜上天所賦予的天之明命，顧諟天之明命，要好好的注意呀！先立乎大，把這個大先立起來，我們天天要立好這個東西，天君泰然，百體從令，我們自然解決我們的一切問題，自然是這樣子的。（全文完）
When we practice the Three Treasures, we shall eliminate things other than the practice. We must be determined and stick to our determination to salvage all living beings. We sacrifice our money, time, and life for the living beings. It is beyond the mortal world. We shall not sacrifice our determination and devotion for the minor things. Thus, all of us shall cherish the heavenly enlightenment. With the major goal consolidated, we can solve all our problems under the heavenly guidance.
